Howell zoners will hear proposal for office building on Oak Glen Road

HOWELL – During its meeting on Oct. 5, the Howell Zoning Board of Adjustment is expected to consider an application for a proposed two-story office building on Oak Glen Road near Lakewood-Farmingdale Road (Route 547).

Oak Glen Rd, LLC, the applicant, and MRW Properties, LLC, (Lot 23), and Oak Glen 641, LLC, (Lot 24), the owners, are seeking a use variance and preliminary and final major site plan approval to construct a two-story, 14,607-square-foot office building on Oak Glen Road.

During a Sept. 21 meeting, Charles Cunliffe, the board’s engineer, said the matter had been a prior application before the board and he said a towing operation had been approved. Cunliffe said the plan has changed from the towing use to the proposed office building.

In a letter to the applicant regarding the proposed office building, Cunliffe expressed concern about vehicles queuing up on Oak Glen Road. He recommended that the applicant’s traffic professionals carefully examine that specific aspect of the plan.

“My recommendation would be to sit down with the township’s engineering department and the traffic safety officer and make sure that is something the township would be amenable to from a traffic safety perspective,” Cunliffe said.
