One class at the Johnson Park School was relegated to remote learning for the day today, Oct. 12, after school district officials learned that a student in that class lives in a household where someone tested positive for COVID-19.
There is no indication of any positive cases of COVID-19 among Johnson Park School students and staff, but school district officials decided to initiate remote learning for that student’s teacher, classmates in A and B cohorts, and for siblings of students in those potentially affected cohorts as a precautionary measure.
Since no students or staff members had tested positive for COVID-19 at the Johnson Park School as of Oct. 11, the Princeton Health Department advised school district officials that the school could open for the rest of the students on Oct. 12.
There are no other individuals at the Johnson Park School – with the exception of the student in question – who are considered “close contacts” of the person who tested positive for COVID-19. Persons who are close contacts of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 are at increased risk of contracting the illness.
