Two vehicles wind up in field after three-vehicle incident in Monroe; limited injuries reported

MONROE – Two vehicles wound up in a field off Applegarth Road after a three-vehicle incident around 7:47 a.m. Oct. 14.

A 49-year-old male from Monroe was driving a 2014 Honda Accord northbound on Applegarth Road in Monroe, just north of the intersection of Old Church Road, according to information provided by the Monroe Township Police Department on Oct. 15.

A dump truck driven by a 40-year-old from Elizabeth was traveling southbound toward the intersection.

A 39-year-old Monroe resident driving a 2011 Toyota Camry was traveling behind the dump truck.

The Accord reportedly crossed the centerline, entering the northbound lane, striking the dump truck.

The Camry swerved to miss the crash and went off the right side of the roadway into a field, according to reports.

The dump truck also came to rest in the field.

Although the driver of the Accord suffered a leg injury, the drivers of the truck and Camry did not sustain any injuries, according to reports.
