The YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy (MEWSA) was awarded a $50,000 Love Takes Action Award from the New York Life Foundation. The grant will allow the YMCA to continue to provide vital programs and services to the community during the pandemic.

“We are grateful for the New York Life Foundation’s investment in our organization and for Seema Pande, a New York Life employee, for recognizing YMCA board member Alka Aneja and her volunteer group, Humbled By Your Service, a community group that was created and organized by Alka for their work in the community during COVID19, which brought about this grant, and will change many lives for the better,” Rose Cushing, president and CEO of the YMCA of MEWSA, said in a prepared statement.

The Love Takes Action Award program awards $50,000 to local nonprofit organizations, which are championed by New York Life agents and employees. Thirty-five community members from across the nation embodying Love Taking Action, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be honored, according to the statement.
