The weekly positive COVID-19 cases reported from South Brunswick is once again in the double digits, with 26 new cases reported last week.
This is the highest number of new cases since early May. While this is a change from recent trends, during which South Brunswick was mostly in the single digits, officials look for trends over several weeks to show emerging patterns, according to information provided by the South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management on Nov. 3.
The average age of the 26 people who tested positive last week was 42 years of age, according to reports. Fifteen were male and 11 were female.
In addition to those 26 new cases, officials were informed of 11 additional cases confirmed from previous months, bringing the total number of COVID positive cases to 644 in South Brunswick, according to reports.
No new deaths were reported. There are 33 township residents total who have passed away from the virus since March.
It once again appeared that a few cases involved community spread contained within family groups, meaning that efforts to quarantine from the community at large were effective, but the virus still spread throughout their individual households, according to the report.
Middlesex County reports a total of 22,804 residents who have tested positive as of Nov. 3, according to reports.
Statewide, 1,109 people are hospitalized from COVID as of Nov. 3, down from a high of more than 8,000 in April, according to reports.

Middlesex County has been operating both drive-thru and walk-up COVID-19 testing sites. Those wishing to be tested will be required to make an appointment online and meet a set of criteria.
