According to election results posted on the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office website, as of Nov. 12, Gunn has 2,477 votes and Buckel has 2,451 votes to lead the race. Esposito has 2,197 votes and Saggese has 2,132 votes.

Due to state-mandated changes to the election process, the mail-in ballot count will continue after Election Day. Ballots postmarked on Nov. 3, but received within seven days after Election Day will be included in the totals, according to the website.

Provisional ballots that were cast at Matawan’s polling locations on Nov. 3 will be counted by the Board of Elections after the mail-in ballot count is completed, according to the website.

The results of the election will not be official until they are certified.
