Updated election results for Old Bridge Township Council, Board of Education

There were elections for seats on the municipal governing body and the Board of Education in Old Bridge on Nov. 3.

The results listed here reflect what has been posted online by the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office at this time. The results are not final and it is not known when the results will be final.

The results of the election will remain unofficial until they are certified.

Ward 2 Old Bridge Township Council: A one-year unexpired term is available on the Old Bridge Township Council. The race is contested. The candidates are Republican Erik DePalma, who was selected to fill the unexpired seat in January; and newcomer Zeeshan Siddiqi, a Democrat.

Councilwoman Mary Sohor, a Republican, vacated her Ward 2 seat, which expires on Dec. 31, 2021, after she was sworn in for the council-at-large seat in November 2019.

As of Nov. 8, DePalma is leading the race with 2,099 votes. Siddiqi has 2,013 votes. There are two write-in votes.

Old Bridge Board of Education (BOE): Three, three-year terms are available on the BOE. The race is contested. The candidates include incumbents Jill L. Decaro, Lisa Lent and Matthew Anthony Sulikowski; former board member Frank Weber; and newcomer Allison T. Vass.

Sulikowski is running on the For the People slate and Weber is running on the Affordable Quality Education slate.

As of Nov. 8, Sulikowski, with 11,071 votes, DeCaro, with 9,229 votes and Weber, with 8,620 votes, are leading the race.

Vass has 7,816 votes and Lent has 6,973 votes.

There are 119 write-in votes.
