JAMESBURG–Interim Superintendent Dennis Filippone announced that the Jamesburg School District will return to a fully-remote schedule effective today, Nov. 30.
“While we are confident in the protocols and safety measures we have put in place, we believe a change in course is warranted. Due to the inability to properly staff our buildings as a result of COVID-19 and the increasing cases of COVID-19 our school community is experiencing, Jamesburg Public Schools will transition to full-time remote learning effective Monday, Nov. 30,” Filippone said in a prepared statement.
Filippone said the district will continue to monitor the current situation and communicate more information regarding possible district reopening plans for mid-December.
“Please note as per the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Middlesex County is currently considered to be in the high activity level for COVID-19,” Filippone said in the statement. “As a result, [the school district] is required to contact trace and quarantine any person who may have been deemed close contact to someone who was exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.”
Filippone said all students will follow their current virtual schedules. On Mondays, school ends at 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday school ends at 2:50 p.m. Families can refer to the district website and click under the “Virtual” tab for additional information.
“Please contact the main office of your child’s school building with any questions or concerns. Be advised, Pomptonian Food Services will continue with breakfast and lunch distribution at John F. Kennedy Elementary School every Monday and Wednesday from 7-9 a.m.,” Filippone said in the statement.
“Unfortunately, the return of the High Five childcare program will be postponed until a later date determined in the 2021 school year. We continue to urge the community to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and adhere to the New Jersey travel advisories. We must all be committed to doing everything we can to protect each other,” Filippone said in the statement.
