METUCHEN – The borough has surpassed 350 confirmed COVID-19 cases and has reported the loss of two more residents, according to Mayor Jonathan Busch in a social media post on Dec. 12.

“These are the borough’s first pandemic-related deaths since the spring,” he said. “Please join me in keeping our neighbors and their family members in your thoughts this evening.”

As of Dec. 12, the borough has a total of 357 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The borough has lost five residents to COVID-19, according to Middlesex County.

The borough is offering a “heartwarming, free attraction” in the downtown business district called Metuchen Lights daily from 5-10 p.m. through the holiday season. It features strings of thousands of lights that outline downtown features as twinkling snowflakes and globes hang over Main Street.

The highlight of Metuchen Lights will be “Winterfest Weekend” running this weekend featuring fun activities, special treats and savings galore.  Holiday music will ring through the streets and visitors are invited to dine, shop and check out the town’s Christmas tree and menorah in a safe and festive atmosphere.
