Lawrenceville Main Street gets its evergreens that fill the hanging winter baskets throughout town from Kales Nursery, which donates and delivers several varieties of freshly cut trees to Weeden Park. Then the LMS Landscape/Design Committee and community volunteers spend about 25 hours cutting up the trees and placing more than 1,000 branches in the town’s 15 hanging baskets and business planters.
Bryan Smith displays a wreath he created at Lawrenceville Main Street’s virtual wreath-making workshop on Dec. 6. More than 40 participants purchased kits comprising a balsam wreath, bow, and pinecones and then followed along as designer Kevin Bullard of Bullard Horticulture, Ltd. taught a workshop via Zoom on embellishing and personalizing wreaths. Pineland Farms located at the Trenton Farmers Market supported this event. All proceeds from the wreath-making workshop will be used for LMS beautification activities in the historic Village of Lawrenceville.

Lawrence/Trenton/Ewing Girl and Boy Scouts and Lawrenceville Elementary/Intermediate students helped create a 2020 “Peace Tree” in Weeden Park. For this project, sponsored by the volunteer Lawrenceville Main Street Landscape/Design Committee, each child received iridescent paper with instructions on how to create an origami peace dove. More than 100 multi-colored ornaments adorn the tree in the Weeden Park gazebo on Main Street, sending a message of peace and goodwill to the entire community.
Evening commuters on Route 206 through historic Lawrenceville are treated to the sight of the village’s quaint gazebo lit by hundreds of sparkling, white twinkle lights. This year’s theme of “Winter Wonderland” was conceived and executed by decorator Hugo Cavalcanti and master gardener Andrea Rabitz, member of the LMS Landscape/Design Committee. The holiday tree was donated by Steve Willard from SavATree Lawn Care and Tree Service. On Dec. 7, Lawrenceville residents participated in “Communities of Light” in support of Womanspace, a local non-profit. They placed luminaries near the gazebo as a symbol of hope for victims of domestic violence.

The Kuliecza family of Lawrenceville posed for photographer Jenna Kardasz as part of the Lawrenceville Main Street Holiday Photo fundraiser on Dec. 5 and 6. Twenty-five families took advantage of this opportunity for family photos, taken safely outdoors at the picture-perfect setting of the Weeden Park gazebo decorated by the LMS Landscape/Design Committee.
