Unidentified person is victim of structure fire in Avenel

WOODBRIDGE – Authorities are investigating a fire in Woodbridge during which one person perished.

At approximately 9:12 a.m. Jan. 20, authorities responded to 88 S. Inman Ave. in the Avenel section of Woodbridge following a report of a structure fire.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was discovered after personnel arrived on scene, according to information provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Robert Hubner of the Woodbridge Police Department.

 

The cause of death remains undetermined pending the completion of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the statement.

No firefighters or police officers were injured.

 

An investigation into the cause of the fire is active and is continuing.
