EAST BRUNSWICK–CareOne at East Brunswick Assisted Living’s newest location has administrated the COVID-19 vaccine to its residents and staff.

Since first opening its doors on Oct. 1, Senior Administrator Chris Slavicek said Harmony Village currently assists 30 residents at its location on Cranbury Road.

With long-term senior care facilities being one of the first places to receive the COVID-19 vaccines, Slavicek said all residents and staff received the first round of the COVID-19 vaccine on Jan. 19. The facility will receive the second round of vaccines on Jan. 30.

Regardless of the ongoing pandemic, Slavicek said the facility has engrossed itself in the community, supporting several local organizations such as the Friends of the East Brunswick Senior Center and the East Brunswick PBA.

“CareOne recognizes the need for the continuum of care in the community, especially as it relates our Harmony Village memory care product. There is a distinct need for support and quality memory care,” Slavicek said.

South River Office on Aging Director Kim Bell said CareOne is extremely community-conscious, and has hosted numerous endeavors such as a “Soup for Seniors” food collection, where it donated to the South River Office on Aging and South River Food Bank.

Bell said the facility also held a free socially-distant lunch pickup for local veterans on Veterans Day in November.

Slavicek said that due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols on-site events have been restricted.
