• Citizens for Informed Land Use, in conjunction with Holmdel’s Green Team, will host a Zoom talk about New Jersey’s Plastic Pollution Reduction Act on Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Nandini Checko, project director at the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions, will explain components of the nation’s strictest single-use plastics law which will take effect in May 2022. • The Monmouth County Park System will host a Stargazing and Nighttime Walk from 7-8 p.m. Feb. 6 at Freneau Woods Park, Aberdeen Township. Explore the night sky and the natural world during this evening walk. • The Monmouth County Park System will host The Casual Birder on Feb. 9 at 9 a.m. at Dorbrook Recreation Area, Colts Neck, meet in the soccer field parking area. • The Monmouth County Park System will host a Wondrous Winter Walk on Feb. 24 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Big Brook Park, Marlboro, meet in the parking lot. • The Monmouth County Park System will host a Winter Beach Walk on Feb. 16 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fisherman’s Cove Conservation Area, Manasquan. Take a guided walk with a park system naturalist along the beach while collecting and identifying some of the ocean’s natural treasures. Dress in warm clothing and bring something to carry shells. • Residents struggling with substance use issues may call 1-844-ReachNJ to speak with counselors ready to offer assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The help line is always answered by a live specialist.
