GoFundMe page established for South Brunswick teen who died in car accident

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – The South Brunswick community is mourning the loss of a recent graduate of South Brunswick High School.

Emily Murillo, 17, died on Jan. 29. She graduated from South Brunswick High School in June, according to a GoFundMe page set up by family friends Kenneth Gleason and Abigail Gleason.

Emily was a lifelong resident of South Brunswick.

She is survived by her sister Kaylee, stepbrothers Dominic and Vincent, mother and stepfather Erin and Joe Popolo, and her father Oscar Murillo.

The family has deep roots in South Brunswick. Kaylee graduated from South Brunswick High School in 2017. Erin Popolo worked for years for the South Brunswick Board of Education. Oscar Murillo currently works at Deans Elementary School. Joe Popolo is a retired firefighter and is now a fire subcode official.
