Altice customers may voice concerns to Board of Public Utilities during hearing

Individuals who purchase communications services from Optimum/Altice USA may address their concerns about the company to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) during a Zoom call at 10 a.m. March 16.

Services provided by Altice have been a topic of public discussion in Howell and Jackson, among other communities, for the past several months.

Municipal officials have lobbied the BPU to listen to the concerns being expressed by the company’s customers.

Officials in Jackson have filed two complaints with the BPU regarding the services being provided to residents who are Altice customers.

The concerns regard what municipal officials said is inferior cable television and internet service being provided by Altice under its current franchise issued by the BPU.

Jackson officials said Altice is seeking to blame the COVID-19 state of emergency for its inability to provide adequate service, however, they said the complaints regarding the company’s level of service existed prior to the pandemic.

In a press release issued on Feb. 26 announcing the March 16 hearing, Jackson Mayor Michael Reina said, “We are pleased to hear our complaints and efforts have been acknowledged and have resulted in this action. Jackson will definitely be represented in this hearing so we would love to hear residents’ concerns to bring to the table.”

Jackson residents may send comments about their Altice service to  officeofadministration@jacksontwpnj.net by March 10.
