Girl Scout aids students with English as their second language

Julia Hopson, a senior at Hillsborough High School, earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by creating a series of games for students, with English as their second language, to help them receive outside aid in practicing their English.

Julia Hopson, a senior at Hillsborough High School, is a member of Girl Scout Troop 60304.

She earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by creating a series of games for students ages 6-12, with English as their second language, to help them receive outside aid in practicing their English.

She met with education specialists, personally tutored students and donated games to the Literacy Society of Somerset County.

The project took more than 90 hours to complete.

Hobson is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and the Class Cabinet.

She volunteers as a teacher’s assistant at Temple Beth El and as a dance teacher’s assistant at Lynn Academy.

She was presented with a proclamation by the Hillsborough Township Committee during their meeting on March 9.
