Middlesex College student Izabella Burzynski of the Dayton section of South Brunswick participated in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholar (NCAS) Program this spring.

Because of her work in the program, she was invited to the one-week NCAS Onsite Experience, which is normally held at one of the NASA facilities but is now being done virtually, according to a statement provided by Middlesex College.

NCAS gives community college students an authentic NASA experience, and encourages them to finish a two-year degree or transfer to a four-year university to pursue a NASA-related field or career. NCAS consists of a five-week online course followed by a four-day engineering design workshop at a NASA center. Workshops take place annually in the spring and fall semesters, according to the statement.

“I am very proud of her as there are very few students who are invited to the onsite experience,” Professor Menu Jain said in the statement. “I am also proud to say that this is the third student from Middlesex College to reach that level. The others were Bargh Shah and Nirali Trivedi, last year’s valedictorian.”
