Woodbridge man charged with murder of household member

A Woodbridge man has been charged with the murder of a household member and the attempted murder of another.

Rahul Anumala, 45, of the Iselin section of Woodbridge, was charged on March 17 with one count of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree attempted murder, according to information provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Robert Hubner of the Woodbridge Police Department.

An investigation by Detective Kevin Goins of the Woodbridge Police Department and Detective Paul Kelley of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office revealed Anumala allegedly assaulted and killed one household member and then attempted to kill another, according to the statement.

Anumala was lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick where he is being held pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court, according to information received as of press time.
