Forsgate Country Club named Tony Perla the new director of instruction for the Forsgate Golf Academy.
He joined the club’s team of teaching professionals the week of April 5.
Prior to his staff appointment at Forsgate, Perla was the golf teaching professional and junior golf coordinator at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit where he built and maintained an active junior golf academy, organized junior golf camps and was a popular instructor with the club’s 700 golf members, according to information provided by On Course Strategies.
Perla’s success at Canoe Brook earned him a nomination for the New Jersey PGA Section’s Teacher of the Year in 2020, according to the statement.
“We are fortunate to have such an experienced and talented teaching professional join our staff,” Carolyn McKenzie Andrews, Forsgate’s director of golf, said in the statement. “Tony is personable, relates well with members and also has extensive tournament operations knowledge and is dedicated to growing the game. He’s had great success working with golfers of all ages and skill levels and he’ll be an asset to our instructional programs here at Forsgate.”
Perla’s resume also includes a golf and teaching professional position at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
As a competitive golfer, he has earned prestigious professional state titles in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and he qualified three times for the Professional National Championship, according to the statement.
