Pedestrian injured on Route 9 in Marlboro

MARLBORO – On April 11 at 9:10 p.m., the Marlboro Police Department received a 911
call reporting a motor vehicle collision in which a pedestrian was struck.

The collision occurred on Route 9 northbound in the area of Willow Lane, according to a press release police issued on April 12.

The pedestrian, identified as Nathanial Martinez, unknown age and hometown, was crossing the highway when he was struck by a Kia Seltos that was being driven by Lauren Wlodarski, 26, of Rockaway.

Martinez was transported by ambulance by the Morganville First Aid Squad to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, with broken bones and internal injuries, according to the press release.

As of April 12, the cause of the collision remained under investigation, but police said they do not believe drugs or alcohol are factors, according to the press release.

Police said it is possible Martinez was struck by a second vehicle. If anyone has information regarding the collision or believes they may have struck something on Route 9 northbound in the area of Willow Lane at about 9:10 p.m. April 11, they are asked to contact Cpl. Route 9 northbound was closed for about three hours while the crash was being investigated, according to the press release.
