Janice E. Watterworth, 85

Janice E. Watterworth, 85, of East Windsor, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center at Plainsboro. Born in West Chester, PA and raised in Fredonia, NY; Janice was a resident of East Windsor for the past 35 years.

Janice earned two advanced degrees, a BA in History from the University of Rochester and MS in Library Science from Louisiana State University. She worked as a librarian for both Columbia and Princeton Universities before beginning a 25 year career with Mathematica Policy Research in Princeton, retiring in 2011. She was an active member and Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown and was proud of her service to TASK, the League of Woman’s Voters, Red Cross and her time as a docent for the NJ State Capital Building. Jan was a kind, caring and giving individual. She loved being involved with all types of activities and organizations that were supportive of people and animals. She was a huge supporter of the ASPCA and the World Wildlife Fund. In her free time Janice enjoyed sailing and playing bridge with her bridge club friends. Every summer she would travel to Lake Erie to spend time in a cottage on Van Buren Point, NY where she collected many of her most treasured memories. Janice will be remembered as a wise, wonderful and energetic person who loved people.

Daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel Ellsworth, she is survived by her son Robert Watterworth, her granddaughters, Diana Urbani and Melissa Watterworth, her great granddaughter, Marina Koenig, cousins Jane Mead, Kathrine Pratz, Barbara Kratz Glotz and very close family friend Nancy Pendjurin.

Memorial services will be held 2pm Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown, 320 North Main Street, Hightstown, NJ 08520. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janice’s name may be made to your local chapter of the ASPCA or TASK at Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Attn: Finance Dept, PO Box 872, Trenton, NJ 08605. Arrangements are under the direction of the Barlow & Zimmer Funeral Home, 202 Stockton Street, Hightstown.
