South River police investigate several car burglaries in downtown areas

The South River Police Department has been investigating several recently reported motor vehicle burglaries.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect(s) are gaining entry into unlocked vehicles during the overnight hours or early morning hours.

Items taken during the burglaries have included loose change, small electronics, wallets and purses.

The burglaries have occurred on Jackson Street and the downtown areas and surrounding streets, according to information provided by the department.

This South River Police Department is reminding residents to lock all vehicle doors and close all vehicle windows to reduce the risk of becoming a victim. In addition, all valuables, money, and electronics should be secured out of view.

Residents should report any burglaries or suspicious activity to the South River Police Department by calling 732-238-1000.

Emergencies or crimes in progress should be reported by dialing 9-1-1.
