• On June 14 at 7:30 p.m., the Red Bank Chapter of Hadassah and Congregation B’nai Israel of Rumson will host a virtual lecture with Eileen Hershenov, senior vice president of policy for the Anti Defamation League. Her topic will be “The Rise of Violent Extremism in the U.S. and its Anti-Semitic Foundations.” The lecture is free to attend. Registration is required to get the Zoom link. • The Monmouth County Park System will present a Nature Lecture Series – Box Turtles of Monmouth County, June 17 from 7-8 p.m. at the Freneau Woods Park Visitor Center, Aberdeen Township. Join a park system naturalist for this talk and learn about this small- to medium-sized turtle with a domed shell. Discover what box turtles eat, where they can be found and some threats to them. • The Monmouth County Park System will present Seining Along Sandy Hook Bay, Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday, June 21-30, from 11 a.m. to noon at Bayshore Waterfront Park, Middletown. Discover a variety of fish, crabs and other sea creatures as we pull a long seine net along the edge of Sandy Hook Bay. Closed-toe shoes are required. Meet on the beach near the parking lot. Parents or guardians are required to stay with and supervise their children. No swimming during the event. This program is designed for individuals and families. Weather permitting. Free. • Citizens for Informed Land Use invites area residents to Bayonet Farm, 41 Middletown Road, Holmdel, on June 21 at 6:30 p.m. for a presentation by Holmdel farmer Kim Casola. Regarding raising chickens at home, Casola will explain setting up a coop, how to pick the best breed for one’s needs and raising chicks, as well as feeding and daily care of chickens. • The Atlantic Highlands Chamber of Commerce 2021 Summer Classic Car Show Presented by Resources Real Estate will be held on June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands (rain date, June 26). All years, makes, models and classes are welcome. The event is free to spectators and is family friendly. Entrance fee for show vehicles is $15 in advance ($20 day of event). • Congregation B’nai Israel, Rumson, will host a lecture with author Amy Bloom, who will discuss her novel “Away” via Zoom from 11 a.m. to noon June 27. • New Jersey Blood Services, which provides blood for local patients, is looking for a few good volunteers. Blood drive volunteers assist donors with registration and/or at the refreshment area.
