Woodbridge could receive $1.25 million for pedestrian improvements that will provide paved sidewalks and new or replacement street curbs on Magnolia Road where hundreds of pedestrians walk every day to access NJ Transit and Amtrak service at Metropark.
Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that three transportation and infrastructure projects he requested for New Jersey’s Sixth Congressional District will advance in the House of Representatives, according to a statement released on June 8.
The project requests will be included in legislation that the House’s Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure were expected to advance on June 9.
The other projects were for the ferry terminal in Carteret and for the New Jersey Railroad transit station in Long Branch.
“Each of these projects are critical investments in our transportation system’s safety, efficiency, and reliability for the region’s residents and tourists. Members of Congress know our districts better than anyone else and can ensure that federal dollars actually reach the areas that need them,” Pallone said in the statement. “I look forward to seeing these projects advance through legislation in the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to the House floor soon for a vote.”
“Congressman Pallone has always helped us identify all of the federal funding opportunities and this result just validates all of his efforts,” Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac said in the statement. “These federal dollars will provide Woodbridge the opportunity to make much needed pedestrian safety improvements around the Metropark area for residents and commuters.”
