The North Brunswick Township Board of Education, Agraj Seva Kendra and NBT India Day Committee commemorated India Independence Day on Aug. 15 with a virtual program of speeches, performances and music.

The mission of Agraj Seva Kendra is to preserve and promote Asian Indian culture and traditions and to promote diversity.

Since its formation in 2006, members have been able to reach goals through education, art and cultural activities.

In partnership with Siemens Asian Cultural Employee Resource Group, the organization will be conducting Asian Heritage Day at Grove 2, Thompson Park, Monroe, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 19.

At this event, Agraj Youth Wing volunteers and mentors will be recognized for their efforts in inspiring, engaging, educating and empowering youth, both in the community and globally, through the numerous STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) projects during the past one year despite the COVID-19 adversity.
