The North Brunswick Food Bank held a rucking event in memory of Senior Airman Richard Samaroo of the U.S. Air Force.

The 2017 graduate of North Brunswick Township High School was found deceased in his dormitory at Osan Air Base in South Korea on Nov. 2, 2020. He was an electrical power production technician in the 51st Civil Engineer Squadron. He had been serving at Osan since May 2020.

More than 20 containers of food and more than 10 containers of health items for veterans were collected on June 12 at North Brunswick Community Park after “rucking,” in which attendees walked around the park carrying a ruck sack (backpack).

Supplies will also benefit a small village in Guyana, where the Samaroo family is from.
