State Troopers apprehend man who fled from vessel stop in Sayreville after boating violation in Woodbridge

The New Jersey State Police have charged Jean Carlo Del Carmen Gonzalez, 22, of New Brunswick, after fleeing a vessel stop in Middlesex County.
Sgt. Robert Albano of the Marine Services Bureau Carteret Station attempted to stop Gonzalez, who was operating a Yamaha Waverunner, around 5:33 p.m. June 6 for a boating violation on the Raritan River in Woodbridge Township, according to information provided by the State Police.
During the stop, Gonzalez allegedly refused to provide Albano with the requested documentation and fled from the scene, police said.
Albano attempted to pursue Gonzalez along the Raritan River, but lost visual of the watercraft and terminated the pursuit, police said.
While continuing down the river, Albano reportedly observed Gonzalez’s Waverunner docked at the Buchanan River Front Park boat ramp in Sayreville. At this time, Albano docked his vessel and began a search of the area. A short time later, Albano located Gonzalez nearby after he was alerted to his location by a passerby, according to the allegations.
Albano reportedly approached Gonzalez, but he allegedly attempted to flee on foot, according to reports.
After a brief foot pursuit, Albano located and arrested Gonzalez, according to the statement.
Gonzalez was charged with obstruction and eluding. He was released pending a future court date.
