Members of the public will have a chance to comment on a proposed Howell ordinance that will, if adopted, establish a salary range for shared service employees.

The ordinance was introduced by the Township Council on June 15. A public hearing and possible vote for adoption is set for July 13.

If the ordinance is adopted, the shared services salary range would be set with a minimum salary of $500 and a maximum salary of $30,000.

Township Manager Brian Geoghegan said the ordinance was written with a broad salary range “so it can be used for future agreements as well, that is why the low number is so low.

“We have various other services we might look to pursue, that might not be at the same level as a CFO or a tax collector, but would naturally be at the higher end of the scale.

“That is the reason for the broad range, as we pursue other agreements we can implement this where it is appropriate,” he said.
