HILLSBOROUGH – Research has shown that reading to a furry, feathery or scaly friend can help motivate children to read, build their confidence and improve fluency.

On June 23, the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Hillsborough branch hosted the location’s first in-person program since the pandemic began, a read to a therapy dog session for students in grades K-4.

During the program, attendees had the opportunity to read aloud to a therapy dog during a 10-minute reading session.
