Resident upset with mailer from county clerk

Typing Letter to the Editor for the Opinion page.

Democracies work best when all voices are heard. We should be encouraging as many people as possible to vote.

Voting by mail is safe (paper trail), easy and convenient. It is also very effective. It increased voter turnout in New Jersey from 2016 a whopping 1,065% in 2020. Maybe
that is the problem?

Imagine my surprise when I received a mailer from the Monmouth County Clerk, Ms. Hanlon, stating that I could opt out (I knew that) by requesting in writing (I knew, too) of voting my mail. To make it easy for me to not vote by mail, I could fill out this handy dandy postage paid form to opt out.

How much money was spent on this frivolous mailer? Do we now have money to burn in Freehold Township? My taxes are very high and this is not something I want my money spent on.

Why send this out? To discourage voting? Isn’t that the antithesis of her job description? Maybe she could send vote by mail applications to all unregistered voters. That I could get behind. Democracies are strongest when everyone participates.
