Crash on Pennington Road traps, injures driver

The driver of a 2010 Hyundai Elantra was trapped in her car and seriously injured following a head-on collision on Pennington Road, near Diverty Road, shortly before 3 p.m. July 19, according to the Hopewell Township Police Department.

The crash occurred when the driver of a 2013 Honda CR-V, which was traveling north on Pennington Road, reportedly crossed the double solid yellow line and struck the Hyundai Elantra in the southbound lane, police said.

The driver of the Hyundai suffered serious injuries and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton by the Pennington First Aid Squad, once she was freed from her car, police said.

The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries and was taken to Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell by the Ewing Township Emergency Medical Services, police said.

The crash is under investigation by Officer George Peterson and Detective Mark Panzano. Anyone with information should contact Panzano at 609-737-3100, ext. 5810.
