FTHS graduate killed in motor vehicle crash in Manalapan

A young man who was a 2014 graduate of Freehold Township High School was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the early morning hours of July 25 in Manalapan.

According to the Manalapan Police Department, shortly after 5:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to Iron Ore Road, in the area of Mount Vernon Road, to investigate a report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle crash.

Police said a passerby who was traveling on Iron Ore Road reported that an overturned pickup truck had been located in a wooded area just off the road.

Sgt. Philip Accatatta, Patrolman Jason Vigneault and Patrolman Brian Schank responded to the area to investigate.

Manalapan Township Fire Company No. 1, the Monroe Township Fire Department, Robert Wood University paramedics and the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad also responded the scene.

Police said the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The driver was subsequently identified in an obituary published online by the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold Borough, as Christopher Joseph Favale, 25, of Roebling, a section of Florence Township, Burlington County..

Favale was born in Freehold and worked as a boilermaker for Boilermakers Local 13 of Levittown, Pa.

Favale is survived by his grandparents, Joe Favale and Roberta Estar of Old Bridge; his grandmother, Constance Comito of Manalapan; his parents, Joseph and Constance Favale of Manalapan; his sister, Talia Favale; and his long-time girlfriend, Heather Schultz.

In a post on her Facebook page, Talia Favale wrote, “Being a sister to Chris has been, and will always be my greatest joy, my greatest triumph, and the single greatest thing I will ever do in my entire life.”

In a post on her Facebook page, Schultz asked that in lieu of flowers, donations in Favale’s name be made to Boilermakers Local 13 Apprentice Training Fund, 2300 New Falls Road, Newportville, Pa., 19056.

Rebecca Policastro, a spokeswoman for the Freehold Regional High School District, confirmed that Favale was a 2014 graduate of Freehold Township High School and said, “Everyone at the regional district sends their thoughts and prayers to Christopher’s family and friends during this difficult time.”

Manalapan Police Department Traffic Safety Officer Detective Dominick Donatelli Jr. responded to the scene of the crash to conduct an investigation.
