Freehold Township governing body hires new CFO

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – A new chief financial officer (CFO) and treasurer has been hired in Freehold Township.

On July 27, Township Committee members passed a resolution appointing Jeffrey Elsasser as Freehold Township’s CFO and treasurer. Elsasser will succeed Catherine Campbell in both positions.

According to the resolution, Campbell had served as the CFO and treasurer in Freehold Township since 2009. Her retirement from those positions will become effective on Aug. 31.

Elsasser’s appointment as Freehold Township’s CFO will be a four-year term that officially commenced on Jan. 1, 2021, and will conclude on Dec. 31, 2024, after which he may be reappointed by the governing body.

His appointment as treasurer will become effective on Sept. 1, 2021, and he will complete an unexpired three-year term that will end on Dec. 31, 2021, after which he may be reappointed by the governing body, according to the resolution.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Elsasser previously served as the CFO in Bordentown, Burlington County, from 2015-21.
