A North Brunswick man has been charged in connection with a gun-point robbery, which occurred at Robeson Village in New Brunswick on May 31.

On Aug. 6, Zaire Cromedy, 28, of North Brunswick, was arrested at his residence by members of the New Brunswick and South Brunswick police departments, as well as members of the Task Force and Major Crimes Units of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, according to information provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department on Aug. 11.

Authorities initially attempted to arrest Cromedy on an outstanding arrest warrant for the robbery as he was driving on Route 522 in South Brunswick, according to the statement. As officers attempted to pull Cromedy over, Cromedy initially eluded the authorities at a high-speed, endangering other motorists and pedestrians in the process, according to the allegations.

Cromedy was ultimately located at his residence.

A handgun was allegedly found following a canine search of the area that Cromedy passed through while eluding authorities.

Cromedy has been charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree eluding, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, and other weapons offenses.

Cromedy is presently lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center where he is detained pending a pre-trial detention hearing in Superior Court, as of press time.

The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Paul Kelley of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3330.
