TINTON FALLS – The Tinton Falls Borough Council has awarded a $423,802 contract for upgrades to the pump station at Shrewsbury Avenue.
On Aug. 10, council members awarded a contract for the Shrewsbury Avenue pump station upgrades to T.R. Weniger Inc., Piscataway. The firm received the contract as the lowest bidder, according to a resolution.
Other bids from firms seeking the contract were received from EDC Corp. ($694,700); Municipal Maintenance Co. ($610,025); BR Welding Inc. ($588,200); Cypreco Industries Inc. ($564,507); and CMS Construction Inc. ($490,800).
After the bids were reviewed, Borough Engineer Thomas Neff recommended that the project be awarded to T.R. Weniger.
Neff estimated the upgrades to the Shrewsbury Avenue pump station would cost $467,360, according to municipal officials. T.R. Weniger was the only contractor to submit a bid below the estimated cost.
In other business, the council passed a resolution authorizing the purchase of two Kohler KG80 generators for the north and south buildings of the Tinton Falls Senior Residence. According to a resolution, the generators were purchased from Warshauer Generator, Tinton Falls, at a cost of $93,000.
And, council members authorized a contract with T&M Associates, Middletown, the borough’s engineering firm, for engineering services related to Tinton Falls’ 2022 road improvement program. The contract is in an amount not to exceed $136,900 and will be for one year.
According to a resolution, the services provided by T&M Associates will include design, preparation of construction plans and specifications, bidding, and contract administration and inspection.
The 2022 road improvement program is scheduled to include work on the entire length of Glenwood Drive, Fairfield Drive, Terry Lane, Orchard Street, William Street, Garden Place, Wellington Drive, Gilbert Street (north, south and west) and Lyndell Lane; the northern portion of Riverview Drive from Hance Avenue to the western terminus; and the north section of Wardell Road from Shafto Road to Maywood Run.
Finally, council members authorized a contract with T&M Associates for remedial action services at the Tinton Falls Department of Public Works (DPW). T&M Associates will provide professional engineering services in an amount not to exceed $29,350.
According to municipal officials, the services involve soil contamination at the DPW facility which resulted from five underground storage tanks that were previously underneath the building.
Under the terms of the contract, T&M Associates will provide licensed site remediation professional management and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection timeframes; monitor well sampling; and soil remedial action evaluation.
