Joseph Massimino, who has worked with the Woodbridge school district for almost 20 years, began his career in 2002 as a social studies teacher at Woodbridge High School and held various administrative positions in the district before being named the school’s superintendent earlier this year, according to information provided by ESCNJ.

“I am truly honored to have this opportunity to be a member of the prestigious ESCNJ board,” Massimino said in the statement. “Being a part of the Woodbridge school system for so many years, and working with students with disabilities, I believe my contribution will be mutually beneficial to the students in my district as well as the students at ESCNJ.”

He said he looks forward to working closely with other superintendents on the Board of Directors and the ESCNJ administrative team to provide the latest services available that enhance the quality of education for students with challenging disabilities, according to the statement.

“Dr. Massimino is a very welcome addition to our board. His extensive background and many years of experience as an educator and administrator will make him a valuable resource as we chart our future,” ESCNJ Schools Superintendent Mark Finkelstein said in the statement.

A native of Woodbridge, Massimino attended the same schools he oversees today as superintendent, a district he truly calls home.  He attended Rutgers University for both his bachelor’s and doctorate degrees, and has a master’s degree from Kean University.
