Princeton University expects to host additional vaccine clinics once the latest series of clinics conclude on Sept. 29.
The university has been running vaccination clinics for the university community and the public at Jadwin Gym.
September clinics are occurring each Wednesday starting on Sept. 1 from 1-4 p.m. Following Sept. 1, clinics will be on Sept. 8, Sept. 15, Sept. 22, and Sept. 29.
The additional dates for the ongoing clinics have not yet been announced. Deputy University Spokesperson Michael Hotchkiss said the university will announce the schedule soon.
The university is administering the two-dose Pfizer vaccine currently at the September clinics. They will be for walk-ins and for those who make appointments. The Pfizer vaccine is for people 12 years old and older.
“We’re prepared to administer more than 1,000 doses and can increase that amount if there is demand,” Hotchkiss said. “At the clinics, we will be administering first and second doses, third doses for those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised, and booster doses for those who received their last dose of Pfizer eight or more months ago.”
Prior to the start of the 2021-22 academic year, the university required all students, faculty and staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
As of Aug. 24, 94% of faculty and staff and 97% of undergraduates have been fully vaccinated and submitted verification to the university.
“We expect these numbers will continue to rise as members of the university community – including arriving international students – receive their vaccinations and submit verification information,” Hotchkiss said.
In a university report on COVID-19 vaccine clinics from April 29 to July, Princeton University had 18 clinics that administered the Pfizer vaccine. Additionally, through the same period, there were three Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinics.
There were more than 7,600 appointments made for the Pfizer clinics and 7,587 doses had been administered. The university community of faculty and staff, undergraduates and graduates received 466 first doses and 522 second doses.
Children in the 12-15-year-old age group received 3,365 Pfizer doses, according to the report.
The J&J clinics had 343 doses administered during the three clinics.
According to the university, most of the clinics were held at Jadwin Gym except for one J&J clinic, which was located in Caldwell Fieldhouse.
In addition to the university’s clinics, Mercer County pop up clinic dates and locations are Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24, and Oct. 1, at the Trenton Farmers Market, 960 Spruce St., Lawrence Township; and Sept. 13, 20 and 27 at Millyard Park, 635 S. Clinton Ave., next to Roebling Market, Trenton.
The clinics are walk-in events and registration is not required, but is recommended.
According to the Princeton Health Department, 79% of Princeton residents 12 and up are vaccinated as of Aug. 24 and 98% of people 65 and over are vaccinated.
