On Sept. 4, a candidate for the Cranbury Council knocked on my door along with an associate.
Neither wore a mask. When I opened the door and stood back, they introduced themselves. After asking if they had masks and getting no response, I told them I would neither speak nor vote for them since their lack of masks showed a lack of concern about my well-being. They were a bit taken aback and went on their way.
The candidate might have had ideas I agreed with that would help my town. But his masklessness spoke to a larger agenda that makes me sad. The pragmatic candidate would carry a mask and use it if a constituent asked them to. Instead, this candidate decided to put his agenda ahead of offering solutions to problems in our town.
