JACKSON – Veterans of the United States armed forces will assemble at the Jackson Justice Complex on West Veterans Highway at 9 a.m. Oct. 9. to escort wounded warriors to the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club on Stump Tavern Road.
This year marks the 13th annual Wounded Warrior event hosted by the club. Jackson Mayor Mike Reina has organized the parade and escort each year since taking office in 2008.
“The freedoms we enjoy as Americans have been purchased and maintained at a high price throughout our history. We owe a great debt to those who have served in defense of our nation.
“For many, their sacrifice has ended in permanent injury. It has been a true honor to ride alongside these heroes each year as we escort them (to the club).
“Showing support will only take a few minutes out of a resident’s day, but will provide a lasting memory for these heroes,” Reina said.
The wounded warriors will be escorted on the route by representatives of the Jackson Police Department, Jackson’s fire companies, first aid squad, motorcycle groups and individuals who want to show support for the veterans.
The participants are expected to leave the Jackson Justice Complex at about 9:30 am.
Residents and members of local organizations and clubs are invited to line up from the Jackson Justice Complex to the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club as a sign of support and to honor the community’s heroes, according to the mayor’s office.
Spectators may park their vehicles along the road in a safe manner and wave flags or hold banners to show support for the wounded warriors and veterans as the parade passes by en route to the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club.
