Tri-Town News news briefs, Sept. 15

The Howell Police Athletic League, the Monmouth-Ocean Police Athletic League and area businesses and police departments are collecting donations for individuals who have been impacted by Hurricane Ida in New Jersey and in Louisiana.

The following items are requested for donations: water, food, new clothing, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, hand sanitizer, personal hygiene items, chainsaws, generators, cooking/BBQ grills, air conditioning units, flashlights, coolers, ice chests, etc.

“The residents of the Jersey Shore jumped in and helped out tremendously after (storms) Katrina and Sandy and we are hoping for the same output of support and love this time as well. PAL will be sending a team of volunteers to help with the cleanup and recovery,” Howell PAL President Chris Hill said.

Drop-off locations are at the Howell PAL, 115 Kent Rd. Howell; Howell Police Department, 300 Old Tavern Road, Howell; Windmill restaurant, 444 Ocean Blvd. North, Long Branch; Windmill restaurant, 586 Ocean Blvd., Long Branch; Windmill restaurant, 1201 River Road, Belmar; Deal Police Department, 190 Norwood Ave., Deal; and Seacoast Chevrolet, 3410 Sunset Ave., Ocean Township.
