Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon has announced the premiere of the film “Monmouth County, 9/11, and Its Aftermath” to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.

As a member of the Monmouth County Historical Association’s (MCHA) Sept. 11 Commemoration Advisory Committee, Hanlon produced the film as a companion to the MCHA exhibit by the same name, which honors the 147 residents lost on that tragic day and its impact on Monmouth County, according to a press release.

“Since the Monmouth County clerk is responsible for maintaining records significant
to Monmouth County history, I joined the Monmouth County Historical Association’s
advisory committee to assist with the preservation of firsthand accounts from residents who were affected by Sept. 11, 2001,” Hanlon was quoted as saying in the press release.

“I am pleased to have produced this short film which will live in the public domain and will showcase Monmouth County’s heroism and strength on and after the tragedy’s aftermath, as we joined together to mourn, heal and serve the nation,” she said.

The film, by New York Emmy award winning director and cinematographer Adam Worth, incorporates archival records and original interviews with Monmouth County residents impacted by the events of Sept. 11, including widows, survivors, first responders, historians, government officials and more, according to the press release.

“As the ‘Keeper of the Records’ for Monmouth County, I am proud to be a part of
this preservation project so we may continue to educate about Monmouth County’s
Sept. 11 response and resiliency for years to come,” Hanlon said.

“My hope is that viewers of the film will be reminded of what was lost that day, will
learn about this both heartrending and inspiring chapter in our county history, and
will understand the importance of preserving our local history for future generations,”
she said.

“Monmouth County, 9/11, and Its Aftermath” will premiere on Sept. 11 at the Monmouth County Historical Association exhibit at the Taylor Butler House in Middletown and will be available for viewing through Nov. 11.
