TINTON FALLS – A project to improve roads in Tinton Falls has been deemed complete by borough officials.
During a meeting on Sept. 9, Borough Council members passed a resolution which authorized a $106,103 decrease in a contract that had been awarded to Fernandes Construction Inc., Monroe Township, for Tinton Falls’ 2020 road improvement program.
According to the resolution, the initial contract awarded to the company totaled $2.17 million. Following three change orders, two of which increased the amount of the job, the final contract totaled $2.18 million.
In other business, the council accepted $89,672 in funding from New Jersey’s body-worn camera grant program. The funding will be awarded from 2021 through the end of 2025, according to a resolution.
The program is run by the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General.
The council’s action follows a state mandate signed by Gov. Phil Murphy in November 2020 that requires all police officers in New Jersey to wear a body camera. Police departments were required to comply with the mandate by June.
Concurrent with receiving the funding, council members passed a resolution requesting that the New Jersey Division of Local Government Services approve the insertion of $89,672 as an item of revenue in the 2021 municipal budget.
And, council members passed a resolution amending a prior action that established a contract with CME Associates, Howell, for professional affordable housing administration services. The contract was initially in an amount not to exceed $34,000. The contract is now in an amount not to exceed $54,000 for a term that will end on Dec. 31, after which it may be renewed by the governing body.
