Monroe man suffers fatal injuries at scene of crash

MONROE – Police are investigating a fatal accident that took the life of a male driver.

The driver of a 2007 Lexus LS was traveling south on Bentley Road approaching the intersection with Route 33 at around 12:41 p.m. Oct. 20, according to information provided by the Monroe Township Police Department.

The driver of a 2021 Mercedes Benz GLB was traveling westbound on Route 33 approaching the intersection with Bentley Road.

The Lexus entered the intersection, crossing the westbound lanes of Route 33, when it was struck in the driver’s-side door by the Mercedes’ front end, police said.

Murray Lipman, 81, of Monroe, was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 39-year-old from Manalapan, was transported to the hospital by Monroe Township First Aid with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Monroe Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
