Incumbent, two newcomers lead the vote for three seats on Edison Board of Education

There were elections for three, three-year terms available on the Edison Board of Education.

The race is contested.

The candidates on the ballot for the Nov. 2 General Election include incumbents Elizabeth Conway, who is seeking her second term, and Biral Patel, who is seeking his first elected term.

Former board member Ralph Errico, who stepped down on Dec. 31, 2020, is seeking a comeback.

They are joined by newcomers Padmaja (Paddy) Chinta, Gabriel Haller, Vimal A. Parikh, Brian Rivera, Douglas Schneider and David Tingle.

As of Nov. 3, Schneider, with 6,332 votes, or 16.15%, Patel, with 6,257 votes, or 15.96%, and Brian Rivera, with 5,711 votes, or 14.57%, are in the lead.

Tingle follows with 4,267 votes, or 10.89%, Conway is next with 4,040 votes, or 10.31%, Chinta received 3,939 votes, or 10.05%, Parikh received 3,645 votes, or 9.30%, Haller received 2,680 votes, or 6.84%, and Errico received 2,230 votes, or 5.69%.

There were 99 write-in votes.

The results reflect what has been posted online by the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office at this time. The results are not final and it is not known when the results will be final.

The results of the election will remain unofficial until they are certified.
