Dalina likely to remain serving as mayor of Monroe

MONROE – Democratic incumbent Stephen Dalina will likely remain serving as mayor of Monroe.

Dalina faced Republican candidate Steve Martin for the late Mayor Gerald Tamburro’s unexpired two-year term that was available in the General Election on Nov. 2.

Dalina was appointed to fill Tamburro’s seat on Jan. 20.

Tamburro passed away on Dec. 31, 2020. He was 84.

As of press time on Nov. 3, Dalina, with 10,339 votes, leads Martin, with 8,664 votes.

There are nine write-in votes.

Dalina said he is “very proud of the campaign that Team Dalina put together.”

“I want to thank our diverse group of supporters: Democrats, Republicans and independents,” he said. “Together we continue to make Monroe Township an outstanding place to live.”

The results reflect what has been posted online by the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office at this time. The results are not final and it is not known when the results will be final.

The results of the election will remain unofficial until they are certified.
