The ‘Advocating for All’ ticket leads the votes for three seats on the Metuchen Board of Education

There were elections for three, three-year terms on the Metuchen Board of Education on Nov. 2.

The race is contested.

Incumbents Michele C. Cook, Chris Derflinger and newcomer Deborah M. Spigner are running on the “Advocating for All” ticket, while newcomer Christina Orozco is running on the Educator Transparent Collaborator ticket.

As of Nov. 3, Cook, with 2,106 votes, or 27.45%, Spigner, with 2,075 votes, or 27.04%, and Derflinger, with 2,045 votes, or 26.65%, are in the lead.

Orozco received 1,383 votes, or 18.02%.

There were 64 write-in votes.

The results reflect what has been posted online by the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office at this time. The results are not final and it is not known when the results will be final.

The results of the election will remain unofficial until they are certified.
