OLD BRIDGE – There were elections for six, four-year term ward seats on the municipal governing body for Old Bridge on Nov. 2.
The following results were released by the Middlesex County Board of Elections as of press time on Nov. 11.
The results are not official until certified by the county.
Ward 1 – The candidates are Democratic incumbent David Merwin and Republican Kevin J. Garcia, a newcomer. Garcia, with 1,789 votes, or 50.87%, leads Merwin with 1,728 votes, or 49.13%. There were zero write-in votes.
Ward 2 – The candidates are Republican incumbent Erik DePalma and Democrat Peter Shearer, a newcomer. DePalma, with 1,928 votes, or 59.86%, is holding on to his seat so far over Shearer, with 1,291 votes, or 40.08%. There are two write-in votes.
Ward 3 – The candidates are Democrat Kiran Desai and Republican Enid Crespo, both newcomers. Desai, with 1,157 votes, or 51.65%, leads Crespo, with 1,081 votes, or 48.26%. There are two write-in votes.
Ward 4 – The candidates are Republican incumbent Mark Razzoli and Democrat Jill DeCaro. There is one write-in vote. DeCaro, with 1,549 votes, or 50.11%, leads Razzoli, with 1,541 votes, or 49.85%. There is one write-in vote.
Ward 5 – The candidates are Republican incumbent Anthony “Tony” Paskitti and Democrat Lance Hilfman. Paskitti, with 2,455 votes, or 63.27%, is holding on to his seat so far over Hilfman, with 1,423 votes, or 36.68%. There are two write-in votes.
Ward 6 – The candidates are Republican incumbent John E. Murphy III and Democrat Nina Jochnowitz, a newcomer. Murphy III, with 1,843 votes, or 58.94%, is holding on to his seat so far over Jochnowitz, with 1,281 votes, or 40.97%. There are three write-in votes.
