SOUTH RIVER – In an uncontested election, incumbents Lisa Byrne, Renae Bush and Nicole Sadowski will serve a new, three-year term on the Board of Education.
Although election results are still considered unofficial, the incumbents share a similar percentage of votes. As of Nov. 15, each candidate received at least 30% of all votes according to the Middlesex County Clerk website. In total, 4,767 ballots were cast.
This year’s election featured a variety of ways to vote which included early voting, mail-in ballots and in-person voting on Election Day on Nov. 2.
In a statement provided to the Sentinel, Bush thanked the residents of South River for her re-election. She cited the continual improvement of educational programs as a top priority in education.
“I am honored to have the support of the South River community and would like to thank them for my re-election. I will continue to work alongside the other Board of Education members and superintendent to provide the best educational programs, initiatives and teachers to our town. In addition to being fiscally responsible, learning loss due to the pandemic will be an issue that we will have to monitor and address. We have made great strides in that area by providing summer enrichment programs and additional classroom opportunities this year and believe we will continue to identify ways to help students learn and grow,” Bush said.
Sadowski expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support in this year’s election. In her new term, she plans to expand the educational opportunities available to South River students.
“First of all, I would like to thank everyone who voted in the 2021 election and express how the support is much appreciated. I look forward to serving the community in this capacity by helping to further expand the district’s curriculum and support programs to ensure that every student has the tools to succeed. I strive to promote a safe and flourishing learning environment for our students, as well as continue to provide innovative programs and tools to help shape their futures, all while being mindful to the Borough taxpayers,” Sadowski said.
