A 46-year-old Long Branch man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a police officer stopped to investigate a car that was parked and idling at the rear of the Town Center Plaza at 2:39 a.m. Nov. 21. The officer saw several open cans of beer in the car, and the driver allegedly showed signs of impairment. He failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

A 44-year-old Connecticut man was charged with possession of a prescription drug and having an unregistered vehicle after a police officer stopped him for having an expired vehicle registration on Milford Road at 11:20 p.m. Nov. 21. During the investigation, the officer observed prescription drugs in plain view that were not prescribed for the man.

Police charged a 38-year-old California man with multiple motor vehicle violations after an officer responded to the Liberty gas station on Route 571 at Route 535 for a report of a vehicle with a window smashed out at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 11. The driver allegedly showed signs of impairment. He failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, driving while his license was suspended, being an unlicensed driver and having an unregistered vehicle.

A motor vehicle stop of a car that had a defective headlight resulted in several drug charges being leveled against a 27-year-old Plainsboro Township resident at the Royal Plaza shopping center at 11 p.m. Nov. 12. During the investigation, the officer observed prescription drugs in plain view that were not prescribed for the driver. The driver was charged with possession of legend prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintenance of lamps and making an improper turn.
