The Upper Freehold Regional School District and the Millstone Township K-8 School District will share the cost of providing Allentown High School with a police officer to assist with traffic control.
On Nov. 22, the members of the UFRSD Board of Education approved a motion that proposed a shared services agreement with the Millstone Township Board of Education for the cost of hiring an officer from the Allentown Police Department at a cost of $65 per hour.
According to school district administrators, the police officer will assist with traffic control at Allentown High School.
The UFRSD serves K-12 residents of Upper Freehold Township and Allentown. High school-age students who live in Millstone Township attend Allentown High School through a send-receive relationship between the regional district and the Millstone Township school district.
A member of the Millstone Township school board sits on the regional school board as a representative and votes on matters that pertain to Allentown High School.
Of the three municipalities that are served by Allentown High School, only Allentown has a police department. Police services in Upper Freehold and in Millstone are provided by the New Jersey State Police.
In other business on Nov. 22, board members approved the purchase of two 2022 Ford F-250 XL trucks with four-wheel drive. The vehicles were purchased in the amount of $42,146 each, for a total expenditure of $84,292 total, according to district administrators
Board members also approved the purchase of two 2022 IC Corp CE 54-passenger gas school buses. According to district administrators, each bus cost $103,633, for a total expenditure of $207,266.
Finally, the board members accepted a $20,550 donation from the Upper Freehold Redbird Baseball and Softball Organization for renovations at the Newell Elementary School field, and a $250 donation from the Trenton Fire Officers Association to the Stone Bridge Middle School Student Council which was used for a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit the Trenton Soup Kitchen.
